Harmonic (NASDAQ:HLIT) introduced the cOS SensAI software on September 8, 2023, which acts as a vendor-independent software layer that collects scattered data from routers, modems, and home devices for bandwidth service providers. According to Analysys Mason's estimates, the addressable market for a tool like SensAI is around $2.2 billion annually, a significant prize for a company that has spent the summer of 2026 exiting its old video business and fully focusing on bandwidth.
SensAI's Efficiency in Solving Network Issues
Instead of having engineers switch between multiple dashboards to identify a service issue, SensAI correlates signals across systems and explains the reason behind each diagnosis. The CTO of Hotwire Communications stated that the traceable reasons behind each diagnosis have allowed the company's network operations and engineering teams to resolve issues much faster than before. Additionally, the CTO of GCI, a company that connects remote communities in Alaska, pointed to the promise of this tool in guiding technicians to not only identify a problem but also its solution, reducing the number of repeat tickets and truck trips.

Market Reaction and Financial Outlook
The initial market reaction to SensAI was a 6.25% drop in stock, reminding us that product launches and stock prices are not always aligned. Part of this skepticism relates to the numbers. Harmonic's top two customers accounted for 63% of bandwidth revenue in the quarter ending July 3, up from 58% in the previous quarter. Rapid growth based on a few large accounts can quickly reverse if any of them cut their spending.
The company also reported a GAAP net loss of $0.02 per share in this quarter, impacted by a $19.4 million loss from discontinued operations related to exiting the video business. Despite the attention on SensAI, Harmonic has yet to report any revenue associated with it. The $2.2 billion figure is an estimate from a third party, and the only publicly named customers, Hotwire and GCI, are initial reference accounts, not proof of the product's expansion among Harmonic's broader customer base.
