Matthias Baumer, the commercial director of PUMA, is stepping down from his position at the end of September 2023 as one of the key figures of this sports brand. Baumer, who has been with the company for nearly 20 years, is resigning for personal reasons and is expected to remain as a consultant and representative of PUMA on the supervisory board of Borussia Dortmund football club.
Changes in PUMA Management
PUMA has announced that Baumer's successor will be introduced in due course. In the meantime, Arthur Held, the CEO of PUMA, will take over the responsibilities of sales organization and subsidiaries. Held expressed gratitude for Baumer's commitment to the brand and his contribution to the company's three-year transformation process, emphasizing that he is pleased Baumer will continue to support the company as a consultant.

Recent Developments at PUMA
Baumer's departure comes at a time when PUMA is undergoing changes at the management levels. In July, the company appointed Dushan Hamlin as the new vice president of e-commerce, who was supposed to report to Baumer. Hamlin's appointment came just a week after the hiring of Marcia Dos Santos, a former Nike expert, as the vice president of PUMA's core business unit. Dos Santos's hiring also followed the establishment of dedicated teams for PUMA's sports and core businesses earlier this year.
PUMA also appointed Laurent Fricker, a former Adidas expert, as the new vice president of its sports business unit in April. These changes reflect PUMA's commitment to transformation and improvement in its business and marketing strategies.
