Chen Yixin, China's Minister of State Security, addressed the significant dangers of artificial intelligence for China's national security in an article published on Sunday. He identified six main dangers, stating that artificial intelligence could pose serious threats to the regime and the political structure of the country.
Identified Dangers by Chen Yixin
Chen Yixin specifically referred to the dangers related to "regime security" and stated that "hostile forces and malicious individuals misuse generative artificial intelligence technologies such as generated images and texts to spread political rumors." He added that these tools can disseminate harmful information and incite hostile sentiments, which directly threaten China's political, institutional, and ideological security.

In addition, Chen pointed to other dangers that include:
- Risks related to China's critical infrastructure due to the potential for high-efficiency cyberattacks.
- The risk of large-scale data leaks that could lead to the exposure of national information and trade secrets.
- Imbalance in technology development due to monopolies and closed technology systems.
- Challenges related to social management that could lead to disruptions in public order.
- Fundamental changes in warfare, where AI-based precise targeting gives advantages to enemies.
The Need for Regulation and Development of Artificial Intelligence
Chen Yixin emphasized the necessity of creating "development guidelines" for artificial intelligence and called for greater government control over the development of this technology. He stated that China must strive to "accelerate the establishment of a system for preventing and controlling security risks" and that the development of artificial intelligence should be guided by the principle of "the well-being of all humanity." Chen also referred to the necessity of establishing a "fair and open international regulatory system" for artificial intelligence.
Chen's remarks come as Xi Jinping, the leader of China, emphasized the advancement of artificial intelligence at the BRICS summit in New Delhi, calling for the development of this technology with a human-centered approach. In this context, he stressed the need to create a global governance framework based on mutual agreement.
In light of these statements, discussions in the United States about the potential dangers of artificial intelligence and its impact on humanity are intensifying.
