Xi Jinping: BRICS countries must stand on the right side of history

At the BRICS summit, Xi Jinping emphasized the need to end the war in the Middle East and called for cooperation among member countries.

At the tenth BRICS summit held today at the Bharat Mandapam conference center in New Delhi, India, Chinese President Xi Jinping urged member countries to assist in ending the war in the Middle East and introduced this bloc as a force for global stability.

Call for Peace and Cooperation

In his speech at the summit, Xi Jinping emphasized the necessity for BRICS countries to stand on the "right side of history" and urged them to play a leading role in promoting peace. He stated, "BRICS countries must firmly stand on the right side of history and strive to be the pioneers of their time."

The Chinese president also pointed to the negative impact of conflicts in the Gulf region on the common interests of the international community and committed to Beijing's cooperation in ending hostilities. Common interests include importing cheap oil from Iran and other products to Asia.

BRICS Diplomatic Power

Xi's remarks indicate that Beijing is transforming the economic weight of BRICS into geopolitical influence and positioning this bloc as a diplomatic power broker. However, these statements did not specifically refer to a concrete ceasefire plan.

In other areas, the previous U.S. administration, including the president himself, labeled BRICS as "anti-American" and threatened to impose heavy tariffs on the bloc's efforts to challenge the dollar. These statements also included threats of additional tariffs on countries aligned with BRICS's "anti-American" policies.
