Thunder and Lightning of Death: The Story of Women and Children in Ukraine During War

In the heart of war, life and love continue. A story of resilience and humanity in the face of horror in Ukraine.

The war in Ukraine has not only destroyed land and homes but has also harmed the hearts and souls of people. Women and children in this land are the primary targets of bombings and attacks, and amidst this fear and horror, stories of love and resilience emerge.

An Experience Passed Down Generations

The legacies of war remain in the minds and souls of the people of Ukraine. Grandmothers recount the hardships of World War II in their stories, a time when their youth and lives were abruptly changed. One of these stories is that of my grandmother, who stood against the Nazis at the age of 17 and fought with all her strength to save her life. She not only escaped the clutches of fate but returned home with a heart full of hope.

Now, the new generation is also facing the fear and trembling of air raids and bombings. A friend in Kyiv told me that his hands start to shake during the attacks. This situation has become a bitter reality for many of us. Like a contagious disease that has affected not only our bodies but also our souls.

Love in the Heart of War

Despite all these fears, we remain committed to our love and humanity. In the heart of this horror, we seek beauty and pure moments of life. Our lives may be affected by war, but this war will never be able to take away our tenderness. As a nation, we love one another and strive to help each other in difficult times.

These stories are our stories. Stories of pain and suffering, but also stories of love and hope. As the people of Ukraine, with hearts full of love, we move forward with all our strength and show that even in the darkest days, we can reach the light of hope.
