Joe Lonsdale: The Dangers of Artificial Intelligence Have Been Exaggerated

Joe Lonsdale, one of the founders of Palantir, dismissed concerns about the dangers of artificial intelligence and stated that the world is in a good place.

Joe Lonsdale, founder of Palantir, emphasized in his recent statements that concerns about the dangers posed by artificial intelligence have been exaggerated, stating: "The world is in a good place." These remarks come at a time when many AI leaders have warned that advanced systems could pose serious threats.

Concerns and Reactions

Lonsdale dismissed concerns regarding the dangers of artificial intelligence in a post on the social media platform X (Twitter) and stated that "leaders have significant responsibilities and challenges ahead, but scaring people does not help. We are in control of this situation." These comments come as engineers and leaders of advanced AI companies like Anthropic and OpenAI have warned about the serious dangers of this technology.

In this context, Dario Amodei, CEO of Anthropic, referenced the dangers that may arise from "AI groups" in a blog post and called for stricter safety regulations and coordinated reductions in AI development. These views have received support from leaders like Elon Musk and Sam Altman.

Attention to Economic Interests

Lonsdale, known as a prominent contrarian, co-founded the University of Austin in 2021 with Bari Weiss, establishing one of its core principles as "unconditional advancement of truth without cancel culture." He is also recognized for his role in founding Palantir, which provides AI software for analyzing big data. The company reported a 93% year-over-year revenue growth in the second quarter of this year due to increased sales of its enterprise software.

Lonsdale's views on artificial intelligence align somewhat with those of Donald Trump; the former President of the United States has also dismissed alarming concerns about AI and emphasized the need to outpace China in this field. In his recent remarks in Ireland, Trump stated that "AI leaders warning about potential abuses of this technology are raising issues that will not happen."
