FuboTV Inc. (NYSE:FUBO) released its third quarter fiscal year 2026 earnings, ending June 30, with total revenue reaching $1.482 billion, a significant increase from $1.074 billion in the same quarter last year. The number of subscribers in North America reached a record 5.75 million. Despite its rapid growth, the market has shown a complex reaction to this increase.
Subscriber and Revenue Growth
The number of paid subscribers in North America reached 5.75 million, up from 5.63 million in the third quarter of fiscal year 2025, marking a record for the season in the region. Revenue in North America increased to $1.474 billion from $1.07 billion last year. Alyssa Bowen, the new CEO appointed in July 2026, pointed to the NBA playoffs and the 2026 FIFA World Cup as key drivers of this growth and introduced flexible programming packages as a tool to convert major sporting events into new subscribers.

Financial Challenges and Market Concerns
Although revenue and subscriber numbers have increased, the net loss has decreased to $25.7 million, an improvement from $38 million last year. However, adjusted EBITDA has fallen to $19.1 million, indicating a decline in profitability. Revenue from other parts of the world also decreased to $7.8 million from $8.6 million last year, while the number of subscribers in this segment increased to 356,000.
FuboTV also reported a loss per share of $0.25 for the quarter and ended the period with $236.4 million in cash and cash equivalents, considered a safety margin. Given the leadership changes just a few months after Alyssa Bowen's appointment, investors are looking for more evidence to ensure that the recent growth is accompanied by sustainable profitability.
Institutional investor interest in FuboTV has slightly increased, with 15 funds participating in this recent quarter. However, short interest has reached 22.82% of the float, indicating serious market concerns about the sustainability of the company's growth and profitability.
